October 1, 2018 - 2nd Annual Northwest Louisiana Gumbo Cook Off and Festival on the banks of the Sabine River in Logansport, Louisiana is October 13, 2018.
This is the yearly fundraiser for DeSoto Parish Mardi Gras Krewe of Demeter, The Logansport Mardi Gras Krewe of Aquarius and the Logansport Festival and Lighting Committee.
Prizes are 1st place is 40% of registration fees, 2nd place is 15% of registration fees, and Best Party is 2% of registration fees.
Schedule of events:
7:30-8am - Gumbo team sign in and set up
10am - Festival opens to the public
10am - Young talent takes the stage
11:30am - $5 all you can eat gumbo bowls for the public
12noon - Cracklin cooking demonstration
12:30pm - Judging and awards
2pm - Cracklin cooking demonstration
3pm - Gun raffle
3 to 6pm - Yesterday's wine band
6pm - Closing
