4-Wheeler, Passenger Car Crash in James Community on SH 7

September 27, 2017 - State Highway 7 East was the scene of a crash involving a 4-wheeler and a passenger car following which the driver of the 4-wheeler was arrested.

Center Fire Department firemen, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers were dispatched to the incident at the intersection of FM 2608 in the James Community.

When officials arrived, the 4-wheeler and its driver remained in the middle of the roadway with the passenger vehicle having come to a stop in the intersection of FM 2608.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Keith Jones, at around 5:30pm September 21, 2017 Thomas Crocker, 65, of Center was driving a 2005 model Honda TRX 500 when he was exiting a private parking lot at James Grocery in attempts to cross the highway to County Road 3143. 

At the time Crocker exited the driveway he entered the path of a black 2014 Nissan driven by Derra Lacole Minniefield, 33, and the vehicles collided resulting in major damage to both.

Crocker was transported by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for treatment of any injuries. He was later released that evening and charged with driving while intoxicated - 3rd or more.
