ADAC's Leo the Drug Free Lion Visits Tenaha Elementary

April 13, 2017 - The Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council's P.A.R.T.Y (Preventing Abuse by Reaching Today's Youth) department visited Tenaha Elementary School recently and presented the 'Big Puppet Show' featuring Leo the Drug Free Lion. The Speak Your Mind program teaches students the importance of making good choices and the dangers involved with using drugs.

According to the ADAC's website, Leo the Drug Free Lion and his crew provide services to both youth and adults in Angelina, Nacogdoches, Polk, Tyler, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Houston, Newton, Jasper, Trinity, Shelby and Sabine counties.

Services are provided to schools, community health fairs, retirement centers, day cares, head start programs, faith based communities, Boys and Girls Clubs, civic groups, business partners/drug free workplace, housing authorities, college campuses

The goal of the PARTY program is to provide prevention education services to youth and adults on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. To be effective in reducing the number of adolescents who abuse chemicals and become addicted through educating children, adolescents and parents about how to utilize skills effectively in handling the pressures surrounding alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse (ATOD).
