April 15, 2024 - Gauge Jordan and Landen Whitton, of Joaquin, were fishing off FM 2572 Sunday, April 14, 2024, when they caught a very large Alligator Gar. Both sides of the roadway were flooded due to the raised level of the Sabine River, and the fish had made its way to a pool of water where the fishermen were bow fishing.
The fish measured 6 feet in length from head to tail, and was quite hefty as demonstrated when the fishermen lifted it in their arms.
