April 14, 2016 - On April 13th, the Center FFA Vet Med team traveled to Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas to compete in the Pineywoods District and Area IX Veterinary Technician contest. The team placed 1st in District and 12th in the Area, with Luis Sequera leading the team and placing 10th high point individual in the whole AREA!!!!
To prepare for the contest the students have be able to identify 100 veterinary tools/instruments, 150 animal breeds and 40 organs/parasites. At the contest, in addition to the identification, the students take a knowledge exam and have a hands on practicum which can be anything from preparing a syringe, restraining an animal, preparing a patient chart or calculating medicine doses.
