Center HS Forestry Area Qualifiers

April 12, 2017 - Forestry is an FFA contest consisting of 13 parts in which students identify all native hardwoods and pines in East Texas, calculate the volume of trees, and assess land to manage pine growth for wildlife. Students are responsible for memorizing charts, leaf identification, and growth patterns of pine and hardwood trees. They are also expected to properly use a compass to find the coordinates of their location while in the woods.

Theses students have studied, practiced, and fought the elements to improve their skills and become successful.

On April 5, they competed against FIVE Soil and Water Conservation Districts, 28 teams, and 112 students at our Annual District Forestry Contest.
