Center Intermediate Honors the Fallen with 9/11 Memorial Assembly

September 12, 2017 (More Photos) - Led by fine arts teacher, Skylar Williams, Center Intermediate School hosted a September 11th Memorial Service to educate students and commemorate those who lost their lives on this tragic day in American history.

The fourth and fifth grade students met in the gymnasium for a presentation of flags carried by fifth graders Genesis Odom, Gabriel Lamas, Ryder Mahan, Kylie Hubbard, Roberto Diaz, Mu Bwe, Gabriela Ordaz, Trinity Bell, Caleb Mosely, and Ashlynn Midkiff.

Instructional Aid Emily Koonce sang "I am proud to be an American" before the crowd recognized Shelby County military members and police force. Those recognized included: First Staff Sergeant Ronnie Williams, Investigator for the Shelby County Sheriff's Office Chad Brown, CISD Police Officer Don Miller, CISD Police Officer Shad Sparks, CISD Police Officer Matt Haddox, CISD Police Chief Pete Low, and Senior Master Sergeant Rick Baker.

Skylar Williams would like to thank Principal Heath Hagler, Assistant Principal Lee Ann Masterson, Instructional Aid Emily Koonce, Administrative Assistants Jenny Nichols and Julia Morales for their contributions and Superintendent James Hockenberry and the CISD School Board for attending.
