During the spring of 2015, City of Center representatives approached Center ISD officials to solicit the district's assistance for expansion of the current mini park off Tenaha street. The assistance included the submittal of a letter of support to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant Funding Division with the intent to access resources for such development.

If the grant application was approved, the district's support included the donation of land adjacent to Center Intermediate School.

A few months after submission, the grant was approved coupled with the financial contribution and commitment from Portacool, thus making the expansion and improvement a reality.
