Center ISD Offers Hunter Education Course

August 17, 2016 - Hunter Education Course is being offered by Shelby County Game Warden Anthony King and Center FFA Saturday, August 27th from 9am to 2pm at Center High School Library & Cafeteria (signs will lead you to parking lot). 

To Pre-Register please e-mail jessica.shadix@centerisd.org with your name, age, and phone number. Course Fee: $20-cash only ($15 for course, $5 for meal). Please bring with you snacks, drinks, and all online printed quizzes.

Meal will be provided by Jason Pyles with Good Times Smoke House. Special Guest will be Kirk Sanford with Dependable Arms will present Firearm Safety. Every hunter (including out-of-state hunters) born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must successfully complete a Hunter. 

Education Training Course. Minimum age of certification is 9 years of age. If you were born on or after September 2, 1971 and you are:

  • under 9 years of age, you must be accompanied.
  • age 9 through 16, you must successfully complete a hunter education course, or you must be accompanied.
  • age 17 and over, you must successfully complete a hunter education course

Course Details: Online Course + Field Course – is ideal for adult hunters who have been shooting and/or hunting for a number of years or an older youth who has an adult hunting/shooting mentor. The online course may be challenging for some youth without adult assistance. All youth 12 and under must have an adult. Accompany them to this course.

PART 1: Online Process:

  • Go to: tpwd.texas.gov
  • Click one of the Online Coursework options: (3 options)
  • Click: Start the course Now >>
  • Study the Online Course web pages.
  • At the end of each page, click through to the next page. Take the quizzes at the end of each chapter and immediately print out the results before continuing.
  • Use a current Outdoor Annual (available wherever hunting licenses are sold) or refer to the digital
  • Outdoor Annual to complete the Texas Regulations quiz.

PART 2: Attend and pass the Field Course.

  • Please take the printed results of your quizzes with you to your testing site to show that you took and passed the online course.
