Center PD Arrests Man on Deadly Conduct Charge

Bret AndersonJanuary 9, 2017 - A shooting incident on Friday, January 6, 2017 resulted in the arrest of one individual following an investigation by the Center Police Department. Shelby County Today was on scene while the officers investigated the incident and later when the suspect was taken into custody where the Shelby County Sheriff's Department and District Attorney Investigator Joey Haley assisted.

A Chevrolet Suburban was pulled over on Nacogdoches Street at the intersection of College Street. Anderson was driving with a woman and two child passengers in the vehicle on Friday at 4:35pm. He was taken into custody at that time. Once the officers were finished investigating, the vehicle appeared to have been released to the woman.

Center Police Officers searched the scene around the residence where the incident allegedly occurred, in search of evidence. Detective Stephen Stroud is seen scanning the area with a metal detector, while Detective Bobby Walker also searched the grounds.

According to a Center Police Department press release, Center Police Officers responded to 603 Thomas Street in Center in reference to a disturbance on Friday, January 6, 2017 at approximately 11:38am. Officers arrived and discovered that the suspect Bret Anderson, 27, of Center had fled the scene after discharging a firearm.

Detective Stephen Stroud was called to process the scene and was joined by Detective Bobby Walker. Detective Stroud reported no one was injured during the disturbance. Suspect Anderson was arrested on January [6th] at approximately 6:45pm where he was transported to the Center Police Department and charged with Deadly Conduct: Third Degree Felony.
