March 12, 2018 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 11th Annual Health and Fitness Fair, Presented by Cline Family Medicine, Thursday, March 22 at the Windham Civic Center from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Gold Sponsors Focused Care of Center, Hope Community Medicine and Nacogdoches Medical Center also helped in making the event a success.
A Scavenger Hunt will be held again with three random drawings for the chance to win a 32” Flat Screen TV, a Fitness Gift Basket full of great fitness accessories and an Instapot. Attendees and vendors are invited to participate in finding items throughout the fair.
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be on site with a blood mobile taking donations, to sign up to donate please contact Shelby County Chamber of Commerce at 936-598-3682.
The fair will host break out session speakers from, CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial, Dr. Ilyas H. Khan at 10:30 a.m. and Carolyn Johnson with Affinity Hospice at 1:30 p.m.
Dr. Ilyas H. Khan, M.D., FACC is an interventional cardiologist with the Heart Institute of East Texas. His topic will be Diabetes & Heart Disease. Dr. Khan has a practice in Center, TX located at 233 Hurst Street.
Carolyn Johnson, C.D.P, is a Hospice Specialist with Affinity Hospice located in Center, TX. In her informative and interactive discussion, Ms. Johnson will cover the emotional, financial, physical and spiritual needs of families dealing with a life limiting illness. She will touch on the importance of being prepared with documents such as Power of Attorney, Advance Directives and/or DNR. Healthcare and handling the aging population is Carolyn’s specialty. She is extremely involved in every aspect of the communities she serves.
The fair is free to the public featuring over 30 vendors with give aways and door prizes. Vendors will be providing health screenings which include glucose, cholesterol, spinal screenings, heart awareness, bone density and vision, plus much more!! Teresa’s Tumblers will be performing at 11:00am
