Construction Zone on SH 7 West Scene of Crash

August 26, 2016 - A construction zone just over 1 1/2 miles from FM 711 was the scene of a single-vehicle crash Thursday, August 25.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Trooper Dustin Ramos, at 5:48pm DPS drove up on a crash involving a grey 2004 Chevrolet passenger car driven by Anthony Moore, 26, of Center with a 3-month-old male child passenger.

As the Chevrolet was traveling east the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to spin and leave the roadway to the right where it traveled through a ditch and struck a tree and came to rest in the ditch with damage facing west.

Moore and the infant were transported by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Center Emergency Department.

No citations have been reported at this time and the crash remains under investigation.

Construction workers at the scene directed traffic until West Shelby Volunteer Firemen arrived and took over.

According to a witness at the scene, there was no obvious indication the infant had received injury.
