David’s Daily Devotion for Apr. 24

April 24, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, April 24.

Last night I watched an interesting movie. It was a dramatization of a meeting between Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, and C.S. Lewis, the Christian writer. In reality, the two famous men never met, but it would have been interesting if they had, and the film was thought provoking.

Here's some thoughts from C.S. Lewis. I hope that they will speak to you this morning, and perhaps lead you to explore some of his work, books like "Mere Christianity" and "The Screwtape Letters".

  • Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.
  • Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither.
  • I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.
  • If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.
  • Joy is the serious business of heaven.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
