David’s Daily Devotion for Mar. 11

March 11, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Monday, March 11.

Isn't it a wonderful season right now? The season of wildflowers, sunlit evenings, St. Patrick's Day, Easter Sunday? Well, there's another season happening, too - the Celebrity Awards season. Every other weekend we get another one - the Emmys, the Tonys, the Grammys, the Golden Globes, just to name a few. And last night, the biggest one of all, the Academy Awards, the Oscars.

Celebrities are notoriously needy of lots of ego gratification. One would think that making millions of dollars would be enough. But every few days every spring, they give each other awards, little statues, and standing ovations. Must be nice.

I was reminded of two scripture passages that passed my way yesterday. Our broadcast Sunday School class was studying the message of Jesus in Luke 6 called The Sermon on the Plain. In that message Christ tells His children to "rejoice and jump for joy, for great is your reward in heaven!".  And then our pastor preached from Revelation 3, where God promises that those who remain faithful will be made pillars in His temple in the New Jerusalem.

So, we common folk may not receive trophies and standing ovations every day, but we can rejoice that we have a Father in heaven who sees us, who knows us, and who loves us.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
