David's Daily Devotion for March 26

March 26, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, March 26.

We continue today with our series looking at what Jesus was doing each day of that first Holy Week. On Tuesday, Jesus and the Twelve were back in the Jerusalem temple. Friday would be a day of incredible testing for Jesus, but Tuesday would have testing of its own.

In the temple that day, Jesus was confronted by several Jewish groups, one after the other. The chief priests questioned His divine authority. The Pharisees asked Him if it was right to pay taxes to Caesar. The Sadducees interrogated Jesus about the doctrine of resurrection. Each group, in effect, was trying to lay a trap for Him, using His own words.

But time and time again, Jesus responded with words from the Word of God, and these religious men were confounded by this. Matthew 23:46 tells us, "No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on, no one dared to ask Jesus any questions".

Do we find our spiritual authority, our strength, in the Word of God? And do we spend enough time in the Bible for it to be "at our fingertips" when we need it? Jesus set a great example for us on Tuesday of Holy Week. And the powerful Jewish leaders, one after the other, were defeated by His words. On Wednesday, these groups would turn to a different plan, would turn to a man named Judas.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
