February 2, 2018 - State Highway 7 West was the scene of a one-vehicle crash Thursday, February 1, 2018 just under one mile from the San Augustine County line.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Jesse Fountain, at 2:10 DPS Troopers were dispatched to the crash just east of the Shelby County line. A grey 2011 Hyundai Sonata driven by Mustafa Hashi Yussef, 41, of Center had been traveling eastbound when the crash occurred.
A witness traveling in a vehicle behind the Hyundai indicated Yussef veered to the left and swerved to the right when it appeared he might hit another vehicle. That's when the Hyundai failed to maintain a single lane and left the roadway to the right. The Hyundai didn't come to a stop until it crashed into a wood line.
Yusseff was transported by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for treatment and observation.
He was issued a citation for failure to drive in a single lane. Trooper Fountain was assisted at the scene by Troopers Taylor Buster and Jonathan Stinson.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by Hughes Wrecker Service.
