Drivers, Pedestrians Encouraged to Use Caution During Festival on Center Square

July 12, 2018 - The East Texas What-A-Melon Festival sponsored by the Center Rotary Club is now in full swing.

As a result, many will attend the festival for this evening and the next two days until the event closes on Saturday night. As always occurs, many people will be crossing the streets surrounding the square to attend the festival, enjoy the food, rides and vendors on site, as well as other activities.

Drivers are encouraged when traveling the square to use extreme caution, and give right-of-way to pedestrians crossing the streets, as there are designated crosswalks on the square where residents and out-of-town visitors will be steadily crossing.

While drivers are encouraged to respect these crossings, those crossing should also offer respect to those traveling the square, and allow those driving ample time to brake for you as well as allow them the opportunity to continue on their journey, unencumbered.
