DRT, SRT Celebrate During Christmas Luncheon

January 5, 2018 - The William Carroll Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Gateway to Texas Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas gathered together in December for their annual Christmas meeting and luncheon.

Members of the chapters placed toys under the Christmas tree to share with County Attorney Gary Rholes toy drive. Following the covered dish luncheon Chaplain Fay Eddins led a brief remembrance for Ann Perrett who passed away in 2017.

Ann was a charter member of the Chapter. Maggie Casto presented Bonnie Dorman with certificates recognizing two of her ancestors, William Samford and Barbara Snider. Special guest Johnnie McWilliams of Tyler, the District IV Representative, updated the chapter on plans for the 2018 Convention, to be hosted by the twelve District IV Chapters, including William Carroll Crawford.

Maggie Casto then presented the year in review, looking back at Chapter activities of 2017: the journeys of the Travelin' Trunk, ancestor memorial marker programs, the eight scholarships presented, new members welcomed to the chapter, chapter participation at the 2017 Convention and District Workshop and the Pinecone and Mistletoe Christmas Market.

Looking back is fun but the chapter is looking forward to a productive and active 2018.
