G6 Deep Sixes in Two-Vehicle Crash

July 9, 2018 - The intersection of Hurst and Foster Streets was the scene of a two-vehicle crash Saturday, July 7, 2018 which resulted in one driver making a water landing.

Officers with Center Police Department and emergency personnel with ACE EMS ambulance service were quick to the scene where the drainage ditch beside the roadway is quite steep along Foster Street.

According to Center Police Officer Brian Wright, at 8:45am a grey Ford Escape driven by Damaseno Benitez-Hernandez, 42, with passengers Dalia Benitez, 39, and Anacia Zamora, 17, was northbound on Hurst Street in Center.

Rita Corbell, 62, was traveling across Hurst Street from the Walmart entrance in the direction of Foster Street in a Pontiac G6. As the Pontiac crossed Hurst Street it failed to yield right of way to the Ford, causing it to make contact with the rear of the Pontiac and sending it into the ditch at the intersection of Hurst and Foster Streets.

No injuries or citations were reported at the time of the crash.
