In God's Word, The Eternal Christ – Hebrews 1: 8-12

Welcome to this edition of In God’s Word. God's holy name shall be glorified through the study of His Word. The Eternal Christ – Hebrews 1:8-12

While our text today is verses 8 through 12; the entire 1st chapter of Hebrews is a confession and an adoration of the Eternal Christ.

As God has made Christ Lord of all, Christ speaks to us for the Father, He manifests the glory of the Father and He is the image of His person. He upholds all things by His power and authority. By His victory over death on the cross, He is seated at the right hand of the Father. He is the begotten Son of God and the angels worship Him now in heaven, as we too will do someday.

He is eternal as is the Father, having no beginning, and no end to His existence. As the Son of Man, He was born, as the Son of God He is eternal. The Bible states that he made ALL things; therefore, He must have lived before creation. God knew that man would sin before God made him, but God provided a means whereby man could be saved. Man is redeemed by the precious blood of Christ, who was “foreordained before the foundation of the world”. I Peter 1:20

The Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment into the hands of the Eternal Son. His throne will last forever and His scepter is one of righteousness.

Christ will sit on the judgment seat when the redeemed stand before Him; He will sit on the throne of His glory when he returns to earth; He will sit on the throne of David during His reign on earth; He will sit as judge at the great white throne judgment.

His kingdom is a spiritual one; since its forever it’s not of this world. Its subjects are spiritual beings and the Holy Spirit dwells in all believers. The kingdom of heaven is indestructible and invisible. His kingdom on earth shall one day give way to His eternal kingdom in heaven.

Creation is ascribed to Christ. It was He who laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens. All things have been created through Him and unto Him. He was before all things, and by Him all things consist.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but Christ remains the same. He was dead, but is alive forevermore. He is our refuge, and there is perfect security in him. He ever lives to make intercession for us before the Father. AMEN…
