In God's Word: God's Mercy

October 2, 2018 - What is wrong with this world one might ask, why are things in such turmoil, why do so many people seem to hate others who do not believe as they would like, why is there so little love among people today?

We find the answer to these questions in Gods Word, for as it says; “To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.” (Daniel 9:9-10)

America and the world have rebelled against God, his word is not held in reverence by so many, and is not even known by multitudes that have not been raised in reverent homes by God-fearing parents.

That, folks is what is wrong with this world today. We find ourselves in the same place as did the ancient Israelites so many times as they continually rebelled against Gods wishes.

Today as in the days of old; “Therefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works that he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.” (Daniel 9:14)

We see our world in decline because we have not listened to the Lord and obeyed his voice and we will not see improvement until we return to him, repent of our evil ways and obey his wishes and commands.

I know from my own life experiences that if he has too, God will lead us into the wilderness and leave us there until we finally realize that we need him more than we need the world, until we cry out to him for help, for forgiveness for our sins and evil ways.

Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord, make your face to shine upon your sanctuary, which is desolate.” (Daniel 9:17)

Daniel begs for God to hear him and restore him in Gods grace and mercy. To resume worship in Gods name that the world can see the power of the Lord our God trough the faith of his people. We are in need of the same return to God as was Daniel and his people so long ago. For only by our own humility and submission to Gods will and wishes will we find the life that we seek today.

Not because of our own righteousness or because of any deeds that we have done will we find Gods grace bestowed upon us, but only by his own great mercy will we be healed and restored to him.

For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy.” (Daniel 9:18)

Let us all say in prayer; “But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.” (Micah 7:7)

Yes, let us pray in faith, waiting upon the Lord our God to bring his great love, grace and mercy to us as we are forgiven of our sins and iniquities and restored in our salvation.

But God being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you have been saved.” (Ephesians 2:4-5)

Call out to the Lord in prayer, asking for forgiveness and he will hear, and forgive, and heal. Blessed be the name of our Lord…
