Golden Harvest Ministries Welcomes New Pastor of First Baptist Church

July 20, 2016 - The July Golden Harvest Ministries Club meeting was held Monday, July 18 with 42 members and guests attending in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church in Center, Texas.  The tables were decorated with red Mexican Sunflowers and red Turks’ Cap and American flags in honor of our patriotic month.  Joe Anderson called the meeting to order, and Harold Hanson led the group in singing two songs.  Alice West accompanied with the piano.  Joe Anderson recognized the visitors:  Steve Snyder of the Light and Champion, Daniel Brown from Florida, Addison Brown, and new pastor Bro. Bobby Bressman.  July birthdays recognized were Becky Maidic, Danny Brown, and Bill Funderburk who is recovering from surgery and now lives in Tyler.  A special tribute was given for Jim Forbes, and a memorial gift was made in his honor to the Gideon Bible Group.

Larry Rymal blessed the food, and members and guests enjoyed a delicious lunch of a wide variety of garden vegetables, salads, fruit, meats, and desserts.

Bro. Bobby Bressman, new pastor of First Baptist Church in Center, Texas.Program chairman Linda Anderson introduced Bro. Bobby Bressman, new pastor of First Baptist, who spoke to the group recognizing the different churches represented and how we all come together to worship. He spoke of his youth and past experiences before coming to Center and his goals and plans for the future. Members welcomed him to Golden Harvest and the community.

Joe reported that the flu shots would be given here at the Oct. meeting, and he assigned committees to call and remind members of meeting dates.  Ellen Manning read the minutes for the June meeting, and Betty Green gave the financial report.  Ann Forbes directed a review of the Prayer Report and encouraged all to pray and to visit the nursing homes.  Ann thanked members for all their prayers, visits, cards, and food for Jim.  David Bain led in a closing prayer.
