Jackson Missionary Baptist Church holds Groundbreaking Ceremony

June 23, 2015 - The Jackson Missionary Baptist Church outside of Joaquin held a groundbreaking ceremony at their new location on State Highway 7 East Monday, June 22, 2015.

Pastor Bro. David Long led the ceremony. He introduced the architect for the project, Laura Culpepper, and the construction manager, Ross Slone, who will be constructing the new building. The worship hall is expected to seat 300 people and the sanctuary 250 people.

An opening prayer was given by Mike Owen and Pastor Long read from Ephesians 3:20 and stated the continued desire of the church is for God to get the glory.

Two people recognized were Kenneth Lowe, to whom the land belonged before selling it to the church, and Mary "Cannie" Lewis. She was born in 1920 and has been with the church since it was organized in March 1921. Lewis, Lowe, Pastor Long and Ross Slone participated in the ceremonial turning of dirt, which was followed by all present singing a verse of "To God Be the Glory."

A prayer of dismissal was said by Ken Kay to close out the ceremony and Pastor Long thanked everyone for coming.

The current church is located at 11120 State Highway 7 East. To contact the church or for more information call 936-269-3370 or visit www.jacksonbaptistchurch.com.
