Jenkins Busy Leading Tigers During Off-season Preparations

Tenaha High School, Friday, June 15, 2018 –

Tenaha High School has a new Athletic Director, Greg Jenkins who has already been spotted preparing young Tigers for the 2018-19 season.  Jenkins finished the 2017-18 school year as the interim director due to the departure of Craig Horn.

Jenkins is already busy and has his hands full with overseeing the inventory of facilities and equipment. The school is now starting it’s 7 on 7 offseason football program and summer basketball leagues.

Jenkins graduated from Cayuga High School in 1987 and moved on to Lon Morris College and Stephen F. Austin University where he played pitcher for their baseball teams. After completing his education he eventually went on to coach at his alma mater, Cayuga, from 2003-2013. The last three seasons at Cayuga he was athletic director. In 2009-10 Jenkin’s basketball team went 20-2 and won the Class 2A championship. He was 56-9 overall for his final three years as Head Basketball Coach for the Cayuga Wildcats.

He has filled various roles while at Tenaha for the past five seasons. He has assisted with the football program and was head coach for varsity boy’s basketball.

Jenkins wife, Carrie Jenkins, is a teacher at Tenaha High School as well. Their son Hayden Jenkins will be a junior next school year and plays football, basketball and baseball. Their older son, Hunter Jenkins is an assistant coach at Odessa. He attained his master’s degree from Louisiana Tech. Greg Jenkins’ brother, Jeremy Jenkins will be added to his coaching staff this upcoming season to fill the position of offensive coordinator.

Robert Tamplin, Todd Bodden and Kevin Cates will also be returning as coaches for the upcoming football season. Luke Balcom and Andrea Jones will be new additions to the Tigers staff this coming season.

Jenkin said, “Our kids are bringing us a positive attitude and they have already began to work hard to prepare for next season. I’m excited about the student athletes we have and the coaching staff we have assembled to prepare them!”
