November 1, 2017 - Three Joaquin High School Majorettes competed in the UIL Regional Solo and Ensemble Twirling Contest held at Lufkin High School on Wednesday, October 22nd.

Junior Head Majorette Michalla Byrd, Junior Arianna Rogers, and Freshman Sarah Ewing performed a trio routine, for which they received a 2nd division rating. The three young ladies each performed a solo routine as well, with all three receiving a 1st division rating.

The 1st division rating qualifies each majorette for the State Solo and Ensemble Contest to be held in Austin in the spring. Majorette Sponsor Amber Graves was excited to learn the results.

"These girls have worked so hard to prepare for this contest! They've had to put in extra practice to learn these routines, in addition to all of the work they do to get ready for performances at pep rallies and football games on Friday.I'm looking forward to taking them to the state competition in May."

Eighth grade Majorettes Avery Prnka, Lauren Neal, and Hannah Holt also made the trip to support their fellow Majorettes.
