Joaquin Students Participate in Pasta for Pennies Program (Photo Added)

April 4, 2017 - Joaquin Elementary and Joaquin Junior High participated in the Pasta for Pennies Program. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society partners with Olive Garden in the fight for blood cancers. Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children, adolescents and young adults under the age of 20. Our students collected money Feb. 10th thru March 3rd. The money collected will help find a cure for blood cancers and assist patients and their families in need.

Joaquin Elementary collected $2482.63 and Joaquin Junior High (grade levels 6th,7th,& 8th) collected $563.35. Our top collecting class was Ms. Derbonne's 2nd grade class collecting a total of $570.76. They will be rewarded a trip to Olive Garden for lunch.

Coordinator for the event was Mrs.Portia KIng, LVN, Joaquin ISD School Nurse. Thanks to all the students, teachers, parents and friends for making this a big success.
