January 5, 2018 - The Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department responded to 56 emergency calls in 2017. The calls cover a wide variety of situations, ranging from assisting EMS to full blown structure fires. The breakdown is as follows:
- Motor Vehicle Accidents: 23 (5 of these involved extrication)
- Vehicle fires: 4
- Grass/ woods fires: 10
- Storm damage/ clear roads: 4
- Landing zone for helicopter: 2
- Special rescue: 1
- Structure fires: 11
Six of the calls listed were for mutual aid to neighboring departments.
