The Joaquin Lady Rams finished their season with a perfect 14-0 District 23 2A record. On Monday they completed their season with a 7-2 home win over the Beckville Lady Bearcats.

This game was Joaquin’s Senior Recognition Event and they recognized their senior softball athletes before the first pitch.

The Lady Rams set down the Beckville offense in 1-2-3 style in the top of the first inning. Lady Ram Ebbie McCann gave JHS their first lead of the contest when she lifted a pitch over the leftfield fence for a lead-off homer which gave her team a 1-0 advantage. JJ Bass later extended Joaquin’s lead to 2-0 after doubling and stealing her way around the remainder of the base paths.

Joaquin had another big inning with a rally during the bottom of the third inning which saw them turn two hits and three walks into four runs by Addi Harvey, Bass, Kennedy Stanley and Chloee Mason. JHS held a 6-0 lead going into the fourth inning.

Allison Baker led off the fifth inning for Beckville with a double off the leftfield fence. She scored on a fielder’s choice.

Beckville scored another run in the top of the sixth inning to cut the JHS lead to 6-2. Joaquin scored the final run of the contest when Madison Baker led off the inning with a walk and scored on a teammate’s ground out.

The win improved Joaquin’s season record to 22-1 and gave them a 14-0 district final record. They will soon learn who they will face as a #1 seed for District 23 in the bi-district playoffs. Joaquin senior pitcher Chloee Mason earned the win and struck out 11 BHS batters during the contest.

Beckville enters the playoff as the second seed for the district and they completed regular season play with a 14-8 record and a 12-2 conference mark.
