The Joaquin Lady Rams varsity softball team won their first District 22 2A game of the season, at home,  over the Martinsville Lady Pirates by a 15-0 score. JHS allowed a single hit in the first inning, a double by Whitehead in the top of the first frame but held MHS scoreless. Joaquin then scored ten runs in the bottom of the first frame using 4 hits, four walks and a Pirates error. This game was originally slated for Tuesday but was moved to Thursday due to major rainfall and wet field conditions.

Lady Ram Karoline Oswalt struck out the only three batters she faced in the second inning. Joaquin added five more runs to their tally with a rally in the bottom of the second inning using four hits, a walk, and an error to their advantage and extending their lead to 15-0.

The Lady Rams retired the Lady Pirates in the top of the third frame and this enforced the league's mercy-rule which ended the contest.

Joaquin will have little time to celebrate as they will host the Timpson Lady Bears at 5:30 p.m., today March 11 at Joaquin Ballpark for the teams second conference matchup.
