Law Enforcement Officials Respond to Haslam Strip Shooting Incident

February 2, 2024 - Law enforcement officials responded to a report of a shooting incident at a business located on Haslam Strip outside of Joaquin around 4pm on January 30, 2024.

When officers arrived in the parking lot of O’Reilly Auto Parts, the parties involved had fled the scene. Law enforcement officials have confirmed one individual fired a gun on another individual and the two fled the scene in separate vehicles.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with the alleged victim of the incident, who did not wish to press charges against the alleged assailant. Officers made contact with the alleged shooter by telephone and informed him that O’Reilly Auto Parts placed a criminal trespass warning on him and that he was not allowed back at the store.

No one was reported to have been injured as a result of the shooting and no arrests were reported.

Agencies responding to the incident included Texas Department of Public Safety, Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Constable Precinct 3, and Tenaha Police Department.
