Library Offers Free Genealogy Workshop: Climbing Your Family Tree

A Free Genealogy Workshop by the William Carroll Crawford Chapter Daughters of the Republic of Texas in Conjunction with Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library

November 20, 2018 - Do you need a boost up to begin climbing your family tree? Maybe you just need a clue to un-puzzle your past. Have you ever wondered if your ancestors were in Texas during the days of the Republic? Join us at the Fannie Brown Booth Library at 619 Tenaha St. in Center on Tuesday, November 27, from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. We’ll try to help you unpuzzle your past; where to begin, where to look, how to search online, how to organize your research.

Our presenters all have experience in researching genealogy and want to help you.

  • Maggie Casto, Registrar of the William Carroll Crawford Chapter,
  • Vickie Martin, Secretary of the Shelby County Historic Commission
  • Barbara McClellan, former Research analyst for the Creek-Muskogee Tribe, east of the Mississippi
  • Gail Sholar, co-historian of the William Carroll Crawford Chapter

If you want to know how to begin the journey or if you’ve hit a wall and wonder “what now?”, come see if we can help you.

For more information call Maggie Casto at 248-3361 or Sandra Davis at 598-5522.

This workshop will highlight some of the new genealogy “how-to” books and research materials Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library was recently able to purchase thanks to a grant received from the Texas Book Festival.

Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library is very excited to be able to join together with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (with thanks to the Texas Book Festival) to share these books with our community!

Hope to see you there!
