July 25, 2016 - Members of Sam Samford Lodge #149 in Center had a cool idea, get some fans and give them to people in Shelby County who otherwise would not have one.
Every summer the news media tells of someone who died due to extreme heat in their home.
Several churches, businesses and other organizations joined the effort by donating cold hard cash. They are: Antioch Baptist Church, Center Auto Repair, Center Glass, Center Noon Lions Club, Center Tire Company, Farmers State Bank, First Methodist Church, General Shelters, Shelby Savings Bank, Texas State Bank, Watson and Sons Funeral Home and Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Shelby County Outreach Ministries will distribute the over 100 fans.
