NWS Issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch, Hazardous Weather Outlook

April 3, 2018 - The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Norman, OK issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch at 10:25am CDT Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch 25 is in effect until 6pm for the following counties in Texas: Anderson, Angelina, Bell, Bosque, Bowie, Brazos, Burleson, Burnet, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Coryell, Delta, Ellis, Falls, Franklin, Freestone, Gregg, Hamilton, Harrison, Henderson, Hill, Hopkins, Houston, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone, Llano, Madison, Marion, McLennan, Milam, Morris, Nacogdoches, Navarro, Panola, Rains, Red River, Robertson, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby, Smith, Titus, Trinity, Upshur, Van Zandt, Williamson, and Wood.

The National Weather Service, Shreveport, LA issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook at 4:02am CDT, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 for the following locations (AR, LA, OK, TX) Sevier, Howard, Little River, Hempstead, Nevada, Miller, Lafayette, Columbia, Union, Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Lincoln, De Soto, Red River, Bienville, Jackson, Ouachita, Sabine, Natchitoches, Winn, Grant, Caldwell, La Salle, McCurtain, Bowie, Franklin, Titus, Camp, Morris, Cass, Wood, Upshur, Marion, Smith, Gregg, Harrison, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Nacogdoches, Shelby, Angelina, and San Augustine.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of south central Arkansas, southwest Arkansas, north central Louisiana, northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, east Texas and northeast Texas.

Today and Tonight... Strong to severe storms will be possible along and ahead of a cold front that will move through the region this afternoon and tonight. Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats, but isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. Otherwise, gusty southerly winds will make for hazardous boating conditions on area lakes today.

Wednesday through Monday... A series of storm systems will bring showers and thunderstorms to the region late Thursday night through Saturday and then again Sunday and Monday. Although uncertainty exists, a few severe storms Friday and Friday night cannot be ruled out.

Spotter Information Statement... Activation of emergency management personnel, amateur radio operators, and storm spotters may be needed this afternoon and tonight.
