April 24, 2018 - Panola College signed an articulation agreement with the University of North Texas on Thursday, April 19, in the M.P. Baker Library on the campus of Panola College.

Dr. Greg Powell, Panola College president, signs an articulation agreement with the University of North Texas B.A.A.S. program faculty director, Dr. Peggy Shadduck.anola College’s president, Dr. Gregory Powell, and the University of North Texas (UNT) B.A.A.S. program faculty director, Dr. Peggy Shadduck, signed the agreement that will offer students at Panola College and UNT clear pathways for an enhanced educational experience for students attending both institutions. This agreement will assist students with technical or applied degrees to progress towards a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences. The agreement will work to maximize the coursework students have completed for the associate degree and apply those credits towards the baccalaureate degree. This will allow students to complete their degree with as few as 30 hours from the UNT.

“The faculty and staff at Panola College have all been wonderful to work with to set up this articulation agreement,” said Dr. Shadduck. “We can tell from the students we have already met with today that this is going to be a great partnership.”

Panola College’s partnership with UNT marks Panola’s fifth articulation agreement with institutions in the State. The University of North Texas, located in Denton, Texas, is one of the nation’s largest universities. The University offers 103 bachelor’s, 85 master’s and 38 doctoral degree programs. UNT has a total enrollment of over 38,000 students and 4,900 faculty and staff to focus on helping those students succeed.

“The partnership with the University of North Texas may be one of the best pathways we currently offer our associate of applied science students who wish to continue their college career to complete a Bachelor of Arts and Applied Science,” said Dr. Powell. “Our students will enjoy a seamless transition to pursue a baccalaureate degree with the University of North Texas after completing their associate degree.”

Located in Carthage, Texas, Panola College is an award-winning community college. Panola College first opened its doors to students seventy years ago with just two temporary buildings. Now, the institution stands with 19 permanent buildings and serves around 2,700 students in the counties of Marion, Panola, Shelby, and Harrison.
