Panola Men Rout Central Baptist JV

January 4, 2018 - The Panola College men’s basketball team defeated Central Baptist JV here this evening, 121-54. With the win, Panola elevated their record to 8-5. “This was a good tune-up before hitting region play.” Head Coach Grant McMillan stated. “We can be really good when we execute a game plan.” He added.

Panola started off hot from the field as TJ Killings hit three straight three-point attempts to start the game. The Ponies gradually pulled away in the first half taking a 58-35 halftime lead. With the whole squad contributing, Panola used stout second half defense to hold Central Baptist to just 18 second half points. The 121 points are the most scored this season by Panola.

Six players scored in double figures and were led by Killings 18 points. Marlon Taylor and Jeffrey Boyd came off the bench and chipped in with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Juwan Williams, Jibril Harris, and Alex Holcombe also scored in double-figures. Jeremy Roscoe had a season high 11 assists. As a team, Panola chased down 61 rebounds.

Panola heads to Beaumont, Texas this upcoming Friday to take on Lamar State-Port Arthur in Region 14 play. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM on the campus of Lamar State.
