Panola Wins Series with Angelina

April 19, 2017 - Correction: The Ponies play at home on Thursday, April 20 at 3 p.m. then travel to Mt Pleasant to take on NTCC in a double header on Saturday, April 22 beginning at 1 p.m.


April 17, 2017 - The Panola College Baseball team went 2-1 last week with wins coming against conference opponent Angelina College on Wednesday and Friday. With the wins #15 ranked Panola now extends their regular season record to 34-9 and conference record to 14-7.  Panola will be back in action on Thursday when Northeast Texas C.C. visits Carthage, game time is set for 3pm.

Panola College Wins Game One Against Angelina

Panola College defeated Angelina College 9-2 in a back-and-forth affair on Wednesday in Carthage. The game was tied at two with Panola batting in the bottom of the third when Christian Boulware homered off of Sprinkle, driving in three runs. Panola took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Colby Price singled off of Sprinkle, driving in one run. Panola scored four runs in the fourth inning. Panola big inning was driven by a single by Logan Berlof and a single by Price. Kyle Rogers earned the win for Panola. He went five innings, giving up zero runs, three hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Cayne Ueckert started the game for Panola. He tossed two innings, surrendering two runs, three hits, striking out one, and walking one. Panola collected nine hits. Price, Cal Smith, and Berlof each collected multiple hits for Panola. Price and Christian Boulware each drove in three runs to lead Panola.

Panola Pitches Well, But Can't Find Enough Runs In Loss To Angelina

Both teams were strong on the mound on Friday, but Angelina was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Panola on Friday in game one of the double header. Logan Bailey started the game for Panola and recorded 18 outs. Logan Bailey took the tough luck loss for Panola. He pitched six innings, surrendering three runs, four hits, striking out nine, and walking one. Home runs for Angelina came when Finke homered in the sixth inning and Malinowiski homered in the third inning. Logan Berlof, Blakeley, and Colby Price each managed one hit to lead Panola. Panola was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Christian Boulware made the most plays with nine.

Panola Jumps Out To Early Lead In Victory Over Angelina

Panola scored three runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to an error and a home run by Christian Boulware. Taylor Tomlin earned the win for Panola. He threw five and two-thirds innings, allowing one run, six hits, striking out six, and walking zero. Four relievers helped Panola close out the victory. Colton Brasher threw one and one-third innings. Panola had nine hits in the game. Chandler Morris, Boulware, and Michael Lawson each collected multiple hits for Panola. Lawson, Boulware, and Morris each collected two hits to lead Panola. Angelina collected 12 hits. Elvir, Lima, and Lazarine each collected multiple hits for Angelina.
