The Joaquin Rams varsity baseball team finished District 23 2A play with a 18-2 run home win over the visiting Martinsville Pirates. The win gives the Rams a 21-6-1 overall standing but more importantly JHS finished with a second place 11-3 conference mark. The Pirates finished their season with a 2-12 record.

The game was close early as Joaquin carried a slim 3-2 run lead into the bottom of the third inning but the third frame saw JHS blow the game wide open. During the rally the Rams hit safely six times, earned nine free bases, capitalized on a Pirates error, and saw 20 batters come to the plate while scoring 12 runs.

The game was eventually ended, after 4 ½ innings, by mercy rule.

Joaquin is tied for the second seed with Shelbyville in District 23 and they will now wait to see who their Bi-District opponent is in the UIL Baseball Playoffs next week.
