Re. Paddie Named One of Top 10 Legislators

June 23, 2017 - Rep. Chris Paddie (R-Marshall) has been named one of the Top Ten Legislators of the 85th Legislative Session by Texas Monthly.

Texas Monthly focused on Rep. Paddie's passage of a statewide regulatory framework for transportation network companies, expansion of job-creating Buy America provisions for iron and steel used in all state infrastructure projects, and his efforts to forge a compromise on the bathroom bill.

"I am honored to be named one of the top legislators for this past session.  No one comes into the session seeking these accolades.  I go to Austin to represent East Texas and make certain that the important issues back home are advanced throughout the legislative session," said Rep. Paddie.  "I think this recognition flows from the tireless work that myself, my staff, and the entire East Texas delegation do to represent the family values of the East Texans who trust us to represent them in Austin."

“Representative Paddie showed a lot of leadership on difficult issues this session,” said House Speaker Joe Straus. “He has become one of the best problem-solvers in the Texas Legislature by earning the trust and respect of his colleagues. He is known as a fierce and effective advocate for the people of East Texas, and I expect that his influence and effectiveness will only continue to grow.”

"I would also like to congratulate Senator Robert Nichols for being named one of the best senators.  In my three sessions working with him, I have found this to be an award well deserved," said Rep. Paddie.  "While I am proud of the hard work that we did during the regular session, there remains important work for East Texas in the upcoming special session.  I look forward to continuing my service and making certain that we continue to make Texas the best that it can be."

Rep. Paddie represents District 9 in the Texas House of Representatives, which includes Cass, Marion, Harrison, Panola, Shelby, and Sabine Counties.  Rep. Paddie currently serves on the House State Affairs, Licensing and Administrative Procedures, and Calendars Committees, as well as the Select Committee on State and Federal Power and Responsibility.
