Referrals Accepted Now for Anyone Needing Help for Drugs, Alcohol Problems

November 15, 2017 - The Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council of Deep East Texas is accepting referrals for anyone in need of help for drugs and alcohol problems in the Shelby County area.

Appointments can be setup by contacting the Lufkin Office at 936-634-5753. Appointments will be scheduled between 8-5pm on Fridays in Center at the Child Protective Service Office located at 912 Nacogdoches Street, Center, Texas 75935.

Outreach, Screening, Assessment and Referral

The OSAR program is designed to help those individuals affected directly or indirectly by substance abuse and dependency. The OSAR program offers information and education on the effects of drug use on the individual and family. This service is available by phone, individual appointment and presentation to various civic organization, agencies and groups that would benefit from this information. Individuals needing substance abuse services will be scheduled for a screening to identify the extent of the substance abuse problem and discuss referral options based on the result of the screening. The OSAR program is designed to reach out to those individuals living in Angelina, Hardin, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity and Tyler counties and who have no means to pay for the treatment of substance abuse.

Chemical Dependency is a brain chemistry disease and will progress if left untreated. The individual with chemical dependency struggles on a daily basis to perform simple task of day to day living and causes both short and long term consequences on their children and family.
