April 10, 2018 - The road has been bumpier than previous years, but the Roughrider soccer team has yet again managed to qualify for another regional tournament. Following dominant playoff victories against East Chambers (14-0), Liberty (5-0), and Hudson (3-0), the Riders will face off against the Stafford Spartans on April 13 at 11 a.m. at A&M Consolidated High School.

“The team is on an impressive 11 game winning streak,” head coach Gerardo Martinez said. “The team has been on a clear sweep through district and also getting convincing wins throughout the playoffs. Now we are where we left off last year: the Regional Semi-finals.”

With a 18-6-1 season record, the Riders plan to expand on that record and advance farther than last year. If the Riders come out on top, they will play the winner of Hargrave and Madisonville.

“The Regional Championship match would be the next day April 14th at 1 p.m.,” Martinez said. “We have accomplished many goals this year, but the main one is at our reach.”
