Roughriders Hold Their Own in First Scrimmage with Kirbyville

August 12, 2016 - The Center Roughriders tested well in both, offensive and defensive, categories of their football scrimmage with the Kirbyville Wildcats, on Friday.

The Center defense held Kirbyville's offense in check on their first possession. Then Center quarterback Kyle Parks took a keeper around the left end on for a 80-yard touchdown on the 'Riders first play from scrimmage. Parks completed passes to DeMarco Johnson and Octavius Evans later during Center's possession. Sadarion Walker added a spectacular 37-yard touchdown near the end of Center's possession period.

Kirbyville's second round of possession ended with them gaining limited yardage and the Wildcats only managed one first down.

Center's second team offense gained enough yardage for three first downs but were stopped short of scoring.

Kirbyville's third possession ended with a punt after three downs saw a net gain of 0 yards.

On the 'Riders third and fourth possessions, Parks ended the drive with a 41-yard score on a busted play, and a 5-yard keeper to end an 62-yard drive.

Center will scrimmage at Tatum next Thursday with the time to be announced later in the week.
