SC Cruisers Have Third Spring Fling Car Show; Burback Wins Best in Show

April 22, 2018 - (Album1, Album2) - The Shelby County Cruisers held their third annual Spring Fling Car Show Saturday, April 21, 2018 in the Wulf parking lot in front of Ivan Smith Furniture.

The event was well attended with 53 registered vehicles in the show. The Best in Show trophy was awarded to Mike Burback for his 1932 Ford Coupe.

Leon Aldridge, Shelby County Cruisers Club President, expressed appreciation on behalf of the group to all who participated and attended the show.

"I just want to say thanks to everybody for coming today, for taking the time to come look at the cars. Thanks for bringing your cars, it takes everyone working together to make an event succesful and I think this one's been very succesful," said Aldridge.

Aldridge included all members of the club in bringing the event to fruition; however, he had one particular individual he wished to commen.

"The main person, the one who does this, engineers it, puts together and gets the least amount of credit is George Horton," said Aldridge. "This is the guy that really does it, he started it out, it's his concept. He's done it and I'm going to make sure that everybody knows how much work George puts into it. We thank you very much."

He also commented, Cindy Durham puts a lot of work into the program as well as many other members.

At that the awards ceremony comenced with Horton announcing.

Among other awards Dickie Gilchrist (left), was the winner of the People's Choice award and he was awarded by Leon Aldridge (right), Shelby County Cruisers President.

Little Landry McSwain (right) was the winner of the Kid's Ride-able Vehicle class.

The proceeds from the show are to support the Shelby County Cruisers scholarship program to benefit students of high schools in the Shelby County area.
