March 29, 2017 - The 1st Annual Stanley Burgay Memorial Bass Tournament was held on March 25th at Cassells Boykin Park on Lake Sam Rayburn. This project was set up in memory of the late Stanley Burgay and all proceeds of the event will fund scholarships to local and area students.

This event would not have been possible without the support of the committee members that worked hard and planned this event. Also, the success of the event was achieved from all of the support of the sponsors, donors, and anglers that participated in this years’ tournament. Plans are being made now to organize the 2018 event and anyone interested is welcome to volunteer.

Forty-eight teams entered the event and it took some heavy weights to make it to the pay window with two locals dominating the leaderboard! Bobby Addison and Clarence Sanderson ran away from the field with a five bass limit weighing in at 28.06lbs. In addition, the team had the overall big bass of the event at 10.56lbs!

The team of Mooney and Thomas had five bass weighing 22.45lbs finishing in second place and also had the second place overall big bass of 8.49lbs. The third place team of James Jarod and Justin Morton came in a close third place with a limit weighing 22.25lbs. Fourth place was awarded to the team of Haddox and Wise with 22.20lbs.
