Several Fire Departments Fight Joaquin Structure Fire (Video)

June 25, 2018 - Several fire departments were on scene in Joaquin Thursday, June 21, 2018 in response to a structure fire at 3:30pm at Joaquin Tire Shop located on U.S. Highway 84 just past the intersection with State Highway 7.

The structure, which was directly next to the Joaquin Tire Shop was in flames when the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department (JVFD) firemen arrived with additional units from the DeSoto Fire Department, automatically responding per a mutual aid agreement with JVFD.

Additional assistance was requested from the Center Fire Department and Timpson Volunteer Fire Department. The majority of the building burned; however, the firemen were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the tire shop.

While firemen were working on putting out the flames Roy Cheatwood, Constable Precinct 3, and the Texas Department of Public Safety directed traffic on U.S. Highway 84 to prevent traffic incidents.

The building is owned by David Parent. The firemen returned to the station at 7:15pm. 

At this time the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
