January 29, 2024 - State Highway 7 East and Loop 500 was the scene of a two-vehicle collision involving a truck-tractor and a passenger vehicle on Monday, January 22, 2024, at around 6am.
According to the Center Police Department, a black Chevrolet Sedan driven by Julia Preston, 22, of Center was westbound on State Highway 7 East when Preston failed to stop at stop sign at intersection with SL 500. At that time a truck-tractor driven by Richard Lee Mahaffey, 59, Purcell, OK. continued on Loop 500 toward Tyson and Preston entered the intersection, the truck-tractor collided with the passenger car, causing damage.
Preston was transported from the scene by an ambulance to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for treatment of her non-life threatening injuries.
The truck-tractor was able to be driven away and the car was towed from the center.
