SH 7 Scene of Crash Involving Truck-Tractor, Pickup Truck

September 6, 2017 - State Highway 7 was the scene of a two-vehicle crash Tuesday, September 5, 2017 involving an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck.

The Center Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of the incident, along with Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers.

ACE EMS responded to the scene to treat one driver involved in the crash.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Sean Smith, at 3:20pm a green 2006 Freightliner driven by Alex Thomas, 43, of Center hauling a log trailer traveling eastbound and was preparing to make a right hand turn into a private driveway.

Raul Resendiz, 38, of Center was also eastbound in a black 1991 Ford F-250 dually when he failed to control speed and struck the right front of the log trailer, causing major damage to the front left quarter of the truck. Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the eastbound traffic lane.

Resendiz was transported from the scene by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for treatment of unknown injuries.

Resendiz was issued citations for fail to control speed, no driver's license, and no insurance. The crash remains under investigation.

The Center Fire Department provided traffic control at the scene until the roadway was clear.
