SH 87 South Scene of Two-Vehicle Crash; Baby Involved Taken to Hospital

September 19, 2018 - State Highway 87 South was the scene of a two-vehicle crash involving a baby on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. 

Center Fire Department, as well as EMS were immediately dispatched to the scene located one mile from Loop 500. According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Jesse Fountain, at 11:40 a.m., a black 2010 Chevrolet Impala LT driven by Barbara Neal, 68, of Center was southbound on State Highway 87 when it slow to make a left hand turn onto County Road 3008.

At that time a black 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Sheena Pineda, 35, of Conroe was  traveling in the same direction as the Impala, when Pineda failed to control speed and struck the Impala from behind.

Pineda and Neal were not reported to have been injured as a result of the crash. A 15-month-old child traveling in the Silverado was transported from the scene by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Center Emergency Department for possible treatment.

Center firemen assisted at the scene until it was clear, while additional DPS units assisted with traffic control.
