Shelby County Football This Week - Week 5

Two of Shelby County’s Five varsity football teams were off on bye week last Friday. Two of the three county teams that played won their games.

The Center Roughriders improved their overall record to 3-1 with a 28-21 come from behind win over the visiting Daingerfield Tigers. This Friday, September 22, 2023 at 7:30p.m., the Roughriders will head to Canton Eagles Stadium to begin District 8 4A-2 conference play. The Eagles won 30-9 at Mabank last Friday and their season record is 2-2.

The Joaquin Rams and Shelbyville Dragons each enjoyed a bye week last Friday. The Rams are 0-3 this season. They will head to the Shelbyville Dragons Stadium on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff with the 2-1 Dragons. This will begin District 11 2A-1 play for these two county rival teams.

The Tenaha Tigers are 3-1 after they suffered their first loss last Friday in a 36-35 heartbreaker at Arp High School. The Tigers will host the Dekalb Bears who lost at Harmony 39-22. The Bears season record is 1-2. This will be a non-conference game. Kickoff at Raymond Jackson Tigers Stadium is 7 p.m.

The Timpson Bears won at Waskom last Friday by a 63-12 score. The win gives THS a 4-0 season mark. They will travel to Grapeland Sandies Stadium on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Grapeland is 1-3 and lost at Groveton 23-8 last Friday.
