Shelby County Grand Jury Indicts 29 Cases

March 23, 2017 - A Shelby County grand jury for the January Term 2017 of the 273rd Judicial District Court met Tuesday, March 21, 2017 and indicted 29 cases.

Nickloas Rushing was indicted for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, third degree felony. The indictment alleges on November 8, 2016 during a traffic stop Rushing destroyed or concealed cocaine by placing it in a styrofoam cup containing ice and water. The alleged intent was to impair its availability as evidence in an official proceeding.

Terrance Rushing was indicted for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, third degree felony. The indictment alleges on November 12, 2016 while on a routine traffic patrol, officers witnessed a hand-to-hand drug transfer between Rushing and Jamie Sanders. The indictment further alleges Rushing, with intent to destroy, alter, and/or conceal cocaine, threw it into the air with intent to impair its availability as evidence in an official proceeding.

Jamie Davis Sanders was indicted for delivery of a controlled substance, first degree felony. The indictment alleges on November 12, 2016 Sanders delivered cocaine to Terrance Rushing in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

Jamie Davis Sanders was indicted for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, third degree felony. The indictment alleges on November 12, 2016 officers witnessed what they believed to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction between Sanders and Terrance Rushing. The indictment further alleges Sanders, with intent to destroy, alter, and/or conceal cocaine, concealed and/or threw down a pill bottle cap containing cocaine with intent to impair its availability as evidence in an official proceeding.

Randal Lamar Rushing was indicted for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, third degree felony. The indictment alleges on December 27, 2016 during the execution of a search and seizure warrant, intentionally or knowingly destroyed drugs by flushing drugs down a toilet with intent to impair their availability as evidence in the investigation and.or prosecution of criminal offense.

Timothy Johnson was indicted for criminal responsibility for conduct of another for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, state jail felony punished as third degree felony. The indictment alleges on July 24, 2015 Johnson acted with intent to promote or assist in the commission of the offense of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, cocaine, by Gustarvis Johnson in an amount of less than one gram. Timothy Johnson allegedly did this by soliciting, encouraging, directing and/or aiding Gustarvis Johnson in the commission of said offense. It is further presented the offense occurred within 1,000 feet of a playground at Union Acres in Center.

Gustarvis Keithoshay Johnson was indicted for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, state jail felony punished as third degree felony. The indictment alleges on July 24, 2015 Johnson possessed with intent to deliver, cocaine, in an amount of less than one gram. It is further presented Johnson allegedly committed the offense in, on, or within 1,000 feet of a playground at Union Acres in Center.

Gustarvis Keithoshay Johnson was indicted for tampering with or fabricating evidence, third degree felony. The indictment alleges on July 24, 2015 Johnson attempted to alter, destroy, and/or conceal cocaine with the intent to  impair its verity, legibility, or availability as evidence in the subsequent investigation of or official proceeding relating to the offense of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Joseph Lee Woolf was indicted for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, third degree felony. The indictment alleges on September 12, 2015 Woolf allegedly destroyed evidence during a traffic stop with the evidence being narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Two cases were issued no bills by the grand jury.
