Shelby County XYZ Homemakers Club Attends Cultural Arts Conference

August 19, 2015 - The Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA), XYZ Homemakers Club of Shelby County attended the annual District 5 TEEA Cultural Arts Conference in Tyler on July 21, 2015. Nine Shelby County members attended this event and enjoyed art demonstrations and a wonderful lunch. Dot Golding conducted an art demonstration on painting a silk scarf. In addition, members showcased their cultural arts talents in categories such as photography, quilts, recyclables, crafts, painting and more.

The arts were judged and the following Shelby County members placed as follows: Beaula Webster – 1st place in the recyclables category with her quilt made from men’s ties, Ellen Manning – 1st place in the tablecloths category with her hand-woven tablecloth, and Dot Golding – 1st place in the crochet category with her framed crocheted butterfly.
